I preached the attached sermon at the Liturgical Protestant Service at Fort Carson on Sunday, 2010-11-14, Proper 28 / 25th Sunday after Pentecost / Ordinary Time 33.
The Eucharistic lectionary Scriptures were: Malachi 3:13-4:6, Psalm 98, 2 Thessalonians 3:6-13, Luke 21:5-19
I'm afraid that my delivery was perhaps a bit below my usual standard, because there was no heat at all in the chapel and it was bitterly cold. I hope the content is satisfying, though. :)

I preached this sermon on 17 January 2010 at Camp Patriot, a US military enclave at the Kuwaiti Naval Base. The Wednesday before, God kept me up all night, giving me the substance of this sermon - not a usual experience for me, and not particularly a comfortable one either. I had some weeping over memories to do. I'm sure he had his reasons, and the message was certainly directed to the particular needs of some of the servicemembers there. Four or five came up to "claim" the message afterward, including one who asked for some counsel and prayer. Even so, the message was not as emotionally challenging to deliver as I had expected - probably because I had vented well on Wednesday. As I said, God had his reasons.
